Step by Step Guide
Step 1: The options process will be launched through assembly. Students and parents can explore the options website together.
Step 2: In PD lessons, students will explore Start Profile and research future careers ideas. They will be provided with a login name and password which will be stuck in their logbooks to allow them to access this website from home.
Step 3: Students will be asked to complete an options preparation form which will help them to reflect on their strengths and achievements and consider which subjects they would like to explore at Options Evening. Students will also be given access to the options portal.
Step 4: Students and parents and will be invited to attend the Year 9 Parents' Evening. This will be an opportunity for parents to receive feedback on their child's learning.
Step 5: Options Evening will be held in January. This is an excellent opportunity to talk to teachers and current Year 10 and 11 students about the different subjects on offer.
Step 6: Students and parents should log on to the options portal and select their provisional option choices.
Step 7: Students will be given an interview time to meet with a senior member of staff to discuss their option choices.
Step 8: Students will attend their interview and finalise their choices.
Step 9: A letter will be sent to parents informing them of the subjects chosen at the interview. Parents will be asked to confirm these choices in order to finalise the options process.
Step 10: Students will start their GCSE curriculum in Year 10.
