Outstanding GCSE results for Twynham School - Again!

We are absolutely delighted with our students’ GCSE results and at a time when the government is purposely making GCSEs harder, our students have risen to that challenge and have excelled.

A stunning 26 students gained grade A* or A for at least eight of their subjects. These were: Drew Baldry, Hollie Brown, Thomas Bryden, Millie Clark, Benjamin Claxton, Heather Colebourne, Lauren Darwin, Stephanie Day, Jack Duffy, Lucy Gadd, Tobias Gadd, Daniel Granger, George Hazeldine, Benedict Hobbs, Toby King, Poppy Langdon, Georgia Lockyer, Samuel Matthews, Hannah Pace, Charlie Ranson, Abigail Richardson, George Rickwood, George Smith, Zak Snell, Liberty Wareham, Sienna Woodward.

With the new highest grade 9 only attainable (in English language, English Literature and mathematics) if students score close to full marks, we were absolutely delighted that 22 students gained at least one grade 9, with Stephanie Day, Charlie Ranson, Abigail Richardson, Hannah Pace, Macey Miller and Megan Wetherick scoring two grade 9s.

Overall, an incredible 85% of the students gained 9 – 4 (A*-C) in English and 77% gained 9 – 4 (A*-C) in mathematics, meaning that 73% of students gained the equivalent of 9 – 4 (A*-C) in both English and mathematics. Just over 70% of the students gained five or more A*-C grades including English and mathematics, which matches Twynham’s record results last year, even with the more rigorous examinations in English, English literature and mathematics.

In a truly comprehensive school, these are outstanding achievements and I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate the students and to thank their teachers, support staff and parents for enabling them to do so well.
