GCSE Results Day

The GCSE journey culminated for Twynham School Year 11 students today with a results day like no other! The world pandemic led to exams being abandoned and students receiving grades awarded to them by their schools to represent the result they felt students were most likely to have achieved.

There is no denying that the results awarded to our students accurately reflect their hard work and ability. They have done exceptionally well and we are incredibly proud of them.

Most importantly the students’ results now act as a passport for further study in their chosen areas, either remaining in full-time education or some taking on apprenticeships and employment with training. Their future is bright and a very strong set of results has enabled record numbers to continue on to A-Level provision within Twynham’s highly regarded Sixth Form.

Indeed, with students across the conurbation doing well Twynham Sixth Form is likely to enrol its largest ever cohort into Year 12. This includes a number of students who will be enrolling on to an exciting new Level 2 Engineering course, the first vocational course to be offered at Twynham Sixth Form.

Headteacher, Jy Taylor; “The results achieved by our students are thoroughly deserved. They have risen to the challenges of the last 6 months and we are delighted that so many of them will be progressing on to very bright futures indeed.”

On the Sixth Form enrolment; “Our highly respected Sixth Form is a popular choice for many students from across the conurbation as well as a great many of our own Year 11 students. This September it looks like we will enrol our largest ever cohort and I am delighted that this will include a number of students who will be studying Engineering with us.”

On the further development of Twynham Sixth Form: “We have a rich experience across Twynham Learning of being able to provide high quality vocational teaching and the new Engineering course will add an extra dimension to Twynham Sixth Form whilst enabling more students to progress their careers within the local economy and job market. I expect this Engineering course to be the first of a number of Level 2 technical and vocational courses that we will be introducing over the next few years.”
