Ofsted Inspection Preparation
One day in school providing an opportunity for the Senior Leadership Team to review all aspects of the school in preparation for inspection. This day will be led by a very experienced Headteacher with current Ofsted Lead Inspector and NLE experience. The package will include:

  • Evaluation of school performance
  • Evaluation of school strategic plan
  • Joint lesson observations
  • Discussion with senior leadership team regarding the key priorities of the school
  • Preparation of an Ofsted action plan with the senior leadership team

The key message will be not to 'prepare for Ofsted’, but to support the school to develop high quality, evaluative work which is focused on school improvement.

School Improvement Planning
One day in school to provide a 360o review of the school. This day will be led by a very experienced Headteacher with current Ofsted Lead Inspector and NLE experience. Following discussion with the Headteacher regarding their priorities and needs, the package can be tailor-made and will include:

  • Evaluation of school performance to highlight strengths and areas for development
  • Joint lesson observations
  • Meetings with key senior leaders to discuss strategic plans
  • Teacher interviews
  • Student interviews
  • Report highlighting areas for development

Effective School Leadership
Negotiable package of support focusing on effective school leadership. The support will be led by a very experienced Headteacher with current Ofsted Lead Inspector and NLE experience. The package will involve:

  • Evaluation of school performance
  • Meetings with key senior leaders
  • Teacher interviews
  • Student interviews
  • Action plan for school leadership
  • Coaching of the Headteacher

Academy Conversion
One day in school with the Business Manager to plan for the changes necessary to convert to an academy. This day will be led by an experienced Business Manager. The package will include:

  • The processes involved in academy conversion
  • Evaluation of school finance systems
  • The legal responsibilities
  • Action plan for conversion

Academy Sponsorship
A negotiable package of support focusing on becoming a sponsoring academy or schools in need of sponsorship. The support will be led by an experienced business manager. The package will be bespoke depending upon needs but could include:

  • The processes involved in sponsorship
  • Evaluation of school finance systems and due diligence
  • The legal responsibilities
  • Action plan for sponsorship

Effective use of Data
One day in school providing an opportunity to analyse your school's data and plan intervention and school improvement plans based upon trends arising from this data. This day will be led by a Senior Leader with over ten years’ experience in data analysis. The day will include:

  • Review of your school data for the past three years.
  • Review of your school data systems.
  • Understanding Progress 8 and what that means to cohorts of learners in your school.
  • Using data as a tool to drive your intervention and monitoring systems.
  • Developing your use of data action plan.

Curriculum Design
One day in school providing an opportunity to evaluate your curriculum and look at principles for effective curriculum design to meet the needs of learners in your school. This day will be led by an experienced Senior Leader of curriculum design. The day will include:

  • Review of your current curriculum model to identify the strengths and the areas for further development of your curriculum.
  • Understanding Progress 8 and what that means to cohorts of learners in your school.
  • Personalising the curriculum for learners in your school.
  • Option systems and the systems of advice and guidance for learners.
  • Developing your curriculum action plan.

SEND
One day in school providing an opportunity to evaluate your strategic approach to SEND to meet the needs of learners in your school. This day will be led by an experienced Senior Leader with responsibility for student support and SEND. The day will include:

  • Understanding the key changes for children and young people with SEN/Disabilities and the Legal Framework
  • EHCPs and person-centred reviews
  • The graduated approach…. Assess/Plan/Do
  • Tracking progress of students with SEND
  • Working with parents or carers of students with SEND
  • Transition/Testing/Provision
  • Personalising learning and SEND at KS3 and KS4
  • Developing your SEND action plan

Effective Pastoral Systems and Alternative Provision
One day in school providing an opportunity to discuss effective guidance and support systems within your school, to evaluate current systems and to review the strengths and areas for development of your own model. This day will be led by an experienced Senior Leader with responsibility for guidance, achievement and the school pastoral system. The day would include:

  • Behaviour management and motivation philosophy, strategies, structures and system
  • Student tracking and academic tutoring
  • Understanding and using data effectively to inform intervention
  • Intervention strategies
  • Effective alternative curriculum to meet the needs of learners
  • Developing your school action plan

Performance Management
One day in school providing an opportunity to discuss effective performance management systems within your school, to evaluate current systems and to review the strengths and areas for development of your own model. This day will be led by an experienced Senior Leader with responsibility for the quality of teaching and developing teachers. The day would include:

  • Performance management structures and systems
  • Developing colleagues as effective coaches and appraisers
  • Setting effective performance management targets
  • Developing clear and effective development opportunities
  • Using data and evidence effectively to inform decisions on pay
  • The capability process
  • Developing your school action plan

Practical support for teachers to improve teaching and learning
A negotiable package of support focusing on moving colleagues forward in their classroom practice. This day will be led by an experienced Senior Leader with responsibility for the quality of teaching and developing teachers. The support would be dependent upon needs but could include:

  • Sharing best practice on a whole school approach to developing effective pedagogy
  • Initial observations and action planning
  • Opportunities for teachers to visit and observe outstanding teachers across a variety of subjects
  • Team planning and teaching
  • Coaching sessions
  • Evaluative observations and further action planning
  • Action planning with a Senior Leader responsible for teaching and learning

Moving Teaching and Learning forward through Whole School CPD
One day in school providing an opportunity to look at the current teaching and learning provision and discussing CPD opportunities to enhance it. This support will be led by an experienced Lead Practitioner and SLE with responsibility for leading a team of lead practitioners who support teaching and learning and lead whole school CPD. The day would include:

Joint lesson observations with key senior leader in charge of Teaching and Learning to understand current provision
Discussion with students
Discussions with teachers
Discussions with key senior leader in charge of Teaching and Learning and CPD
Report highlighting areas for development and an opportunity to develop your school action plan

Leadership of English Curriculum
One day in school providing an opportunity to look at the current provision in English and discuss strategies to develop expertise and improve results. This support will be led by an experienced Head of English and Lead Practitioner with responsibility for a large English team. The day would include:
Joint lesson observations with the leader of English to understand current provision

One day in school providing an opportunity to look at the current provision in maths and discuss strategies to develop expertise and improve results. This support will be led by an experienced Head of maths and SLE with responsibility for a large maths team. The day would include:
Joint lesson observations with the leader of maths to understand current provision
Work scrutiny with the leader of maths
Review of data, tracking and intervention systems
Discussion with students
Discussions with teachers
Discussions with the leader of maths
Report highlighting areas for development and an opportunity to develop your school action plan

Teaching of Maths for understanding
One day in school providing an opportunity to discuss strategies for the effective teaching of maths. This support will be led by an experienced Head of Maths, an SLE with experience of working with the University of Southampton and NCTEM on Children’s misconceptions in maths. The day would include:
Joint lesson observations with the leader of maths to understand current provision
The Multiplicative Reasoning Project and Children’s common misconceptions in maths
Lesson study and how this can take a team of teachers forward
Discussions with the leader of maths on the developmental needs of their team in diagnosing learning
Report highlighting areas for development and an opportunity to develop your action plan

Developing a More Able Provision
One day in school providing an opportunity to look at the current provision for the ’More Able’ and discuss strategies to develop expertise and provide a coherent and structured programme. This support will be led by a Lead Teach with responsibility for our ‘More Able Programme’. The day would include:
Joint lesson observations with the key senior leader responsible for the ‘More Able Programme’ to understand current provision
Discussions with students
Discussions with teachers
Discussions with key senior leader responsible for the ‘More Able Programme’
Report highlighting areas for development and an opportunity to develop your school action plan


Pupil Premium
One day in school providing an opportunity to discuss strategies for closing the gap. This support will be led by an experienced pastoral leader with responsibility for Pupil Premium students. The day would include:
Monitoring and tracking achievement and progress for PP students
The role of HoD and HoY in identifying those PP students who are needing extra support and ensuring teachers provide this support
Specific interventions for PP students in Year 11
Financial support for PP students
Intensive work in Key Stage 3 with students who arrive with KS2 scores of lower than level 4 in either maths or English
Managing options and progression
Transition and information sharing between schools
Develop strategies to support and monitor KS5 students who were previously Pupil Premium
Developing department led intervention strategies to ensure that all interventions are aimed at specific areas of need
Developing your school action plan

Literacy
A negotiable package of support focusing on raising attainment and standards in literacy across the curriculum, including the introduction of literacy conventions and whole school focus on literacy. This support will be led by an experienced literacy co-ordinator, specialist literacy teacher, assessor, SSAT Lead Practitioner and SLE. The support could include:
Whole school assessment procedures and targeted intervention
Implementation of Reading Plus programme, key word Spelling Bee challenge and Word of the Week competitions
Training of staff to support development of literacy
Collaboration with English subject teachers to specifically target literacy
Identification of SEN
Creation of schemes of work and resources to support SEN students
Training of staff to support SEN students
Progress tracking with targeted intervention
Creation of designated literacy specialists to work with individual year groups at KS3
Identification and intervention of support for students with weak working memory

Supporting NQTs
A negotiable package of support focusing on supporting and developing NQTs. This support will be led by an experienced NQT lead. The support could include:
NQT registration and assessment
Support with developing your own school NQT programme
Support with developing an individual NQT programme
Joining the Twynham Learning NQT programme
Supporting an NQT with specific support needs
How to effectively coach and mentor NQTs
Supporting RQTs
A negotiable package focusing on supporting and developing RQTs. This support will be led by an experienced RQT lead. The support could include:
Support with developing your own school RQT programme
Support with developing an individual RQT programme
Joining the Twynham Learning RQT programme
Supporting an RQT with specific needs
How to effectively coach and mentor RQTs

Effective Post 16 Provision
One day in school providing an opportunity to discuss strategies and systems within your school to develop an effective Post 16 provision. This day will be led by an experienced senior leader with responsibility for 6th form development. The day would include:
Developing an effective 6th form culture
Effective marketing strategies
Effective and efficient curriculum design
Effective target setting
Pupil tracking and academic tutoring
Understanding and using data effectively to inform intervention
Intervention strategies
Developing your school action plan

Developing evidence-based practice
A negotiable package providing opportunities to look at what ‘evidence based practice’ actually means. There is so much confusion and misinformation in the public domain that it is difficult for schools to really distinguish between research and yet another idea masquerading as research.
This will be led by a very experienced headteacher with current Ofsted Lead Inspector, NLE experience and a PhD.
If desired, there will be the opportunity for schools to receive support in setting up, monitoring and evaluating research based projects within their schools.
