Assessment:


The qualification consists of three components that will give students the opportunity to develop broad knowledge and understanding of Media sectors and technical skills in designing and creating media products.

Components 1 and 2 are assessed through internal assessment.  Component 3 builds on the skills and knowledge learnt in components 1 and 2 and takes the form of a board set assignment which is externally marked.

Who is the course for?

This course is for those who wish to acquire skills through vocational contexts by studying the knowledge, skills and processes related to investigating, exploring and creating media products as part of their learning

You should:

  • Have an interest in all stages of media production
  • Have an interest in developing ideas and media products
  • Be able to work as part of a team

What will I do on the course?

You will study sector specific knowledge and skills in a practical learning environment including:

  • The development of core knowledge and understanding including the range of different types of media products, production processes and techniques.
  • The development and application of skills such as: research skills and stylistic and technical skills
  • Reflective practice through the refinement of their own media products that allows learners to respond to feedback and identify areas for improvement.
  • Apply production skills to the creation of a media product in response to a brief.
