Twynham Sixth Form A Level Results 2016 - Yet Another Superb Year

Twynham School celebrated the culmination of another superb year with an outstanding set of A Level results.

Whilst the overall pass rate was very close to 100%, Twynham’s top performers did exceptionally well, with forty students gaining at least 150 points (equivalent to at least three A grades at A Level).

Georgia Miller, Wilf Skinner, Jenny Ricot, Joshua Winter and Nicole West were five of Twynham’s top students. Georgia gained A* in biology chemistry and psychology whilst also gaining the top grade in AS mathematics. Wilf gained A* in English literature, French and mathematics whilst also gaining the top grade in AS music. Jenny gained A* in biology, chemistry and mathematics whilst also gaining the top grade in AS mathematics. Joshua gained A* in biology and chemistry and an A in mathematics whilst Nicole gained straight As in biology, chemistry and English literature.

Georgia Miller, Jenny Ricot and Nicole West have each gained places to study medicine. Georgia at Leicester, Jenny at Nottingham and Nicole at Plymouth.  Wilf will be taking up his place to study English and French at UCL and Joshua will be taking up his pace at UCL to study biochemistry. We are also delighted that Gil Rubin has been accepted at Girton College, Cambridge to study French and Italian, which is a tremendous achievement.

The photo shows Wilf, Nicole, Jenny, Georgia and Josh with their results.

Twynham’s success is highlighted by the achievement of the top 30 students who each gained at least 160 points (equivalent to at least one A* and two A grades at A Level). These were Georgia Miller, Wilf Skinner, Jennifer Ricot, Jack Simpkins, Alexandra Day, Joshua Winter, Sophie Jones, Daniel Riggs, Jessie Lutwyche, James Stephenson, Niall Pearce, Stuart Dunsden, Sallyanne Caswell, Gil Rubin, Jade Hooper, Nicole West, Adam West, Louis Denney, Luke Newman, Jasmin Tailamon, Chapman Ho, Lucy Beer, Harry Nye, Maisie Hopkins, Lauren Lett, Emily Towler, Zeke Skinner, Ruby Johnson, Isabel Campbell and Janey Curtis.

Students have also gained places at prestigious arts colleges including Poppy Johnstone who has gained a place at Stella Mann for dance and Chloe Burnley who has a place at Wilkes for dance. Sadie White will be joining the London College of Art to study illustration and Eleanor Ball, Maia Flavell, Millie Fry and Helen Phillimore have places at the AUB for the prestigious Foundation Year. We are also delighted that Emily Towler will be taking up her a place at AUB for the BA in Visual Effects & Production Design. Equally impressive is Daniel Bell, who will be joining the Royal College of Music to study Classical Voice.

Dr Terry Fish (Executive Headteacher) commented: “I am absolutely delighted with the success of our students, and I’m particularly pleased that our top students did so well; gaining places at the country’s top universities to study subjects such as medicine, mathematics, the sciences and languages. To have three students gain places at top medical schools is just wonderful and we must also congratulate those who have gained places at prestigious specialist arts colleges since gaining these places is as demanding as gaining a place at a top Oxbridge college. I’d like to congratulate all our students and to thank their parents for all their support and our teachers for all their dedication and hard work.”

When many students nationally are reporting that they have been given bad advice regarding their A-level choices, Dr Fish has been leading the free seminars on ‘How to get to a Good Uni’ where good, practical and correct advice has been given for a number of years. All of Twynham’s students study a proper balance of subjects giving them access to the country’s top universities. The next seminar is on Thursday 15th September, 2016, 7.00pm at the Village Hotel, Bournemouth and this is open to students from all local schools who will be in Year 10 and who are likely to gain top grades at GCSE.
