Year 13 Commencement Ceremony

The Commencement Ceremony marks the formal transition from being a Year 13 student at Twynham School to the beginning of the next stage in life.

The sun shone brightly on the afternoon as the young men and women of Year 13 joined with their tutors, senior staff and school governors in celebrating this ‘Rite of Passage’.  It was a glorious occasion with an excellent Alumni speech, this year given by Ashleigh King.

Ashleigh joined year 12 from Avonbourne School and progressed form Twynham School to read sociology at the London School of Economics.  Since completing her degree she now works for Universal Studios and a senior talent recruiter, mixing with the Stars! Ashleigh spoke honestly about her journey and shared her ‘best tips’ with our students.  The speech was both motivational and inspirational.

The same too could be said for the Valedictorian speech, which this year was given by our Deputy Head Boy, Niall Pearce. It would be fair to say that his extrovert character came to the fore in a speech that was both reflective and entertaining, culminating a Rap sung to the rest of the Year group, and anyone else on Christchurch quay who cared to listen for that matter!

The speeches were followed by the presentation of certificate and the event was rounded off with strawberries and cream, cupcakes and a celebratory drink. It was a lovely way to be together as a community and say ‘well done’ to our young men and women as they move on from Twynham School.
