Attendance
Planned Absence & illness
Planned Absence
Absences will only be authorised in exceptional circumstances. All other requests (including all holiday requests) are likely to be refused and any absence marked as unauthorised. Please notify us in advance of planned absence by writing to your child’s Head of Year. If you know in advance that your child needs to be absent (e.g. for a medical or dental appointment) then please do let us know via the School’s Arbor App.
Leaving Early
If a student needs to leave the school during the day, for whatever reason, then they must sign out at Reception. Students will only be able to do this if a note has been put in their logbook by the parent or message received via the Arbor App from the parent. Under no circumstances should your child contact you directly during the school day; this must always be done via a member of staff (Year Office or Medical Room).
Illness
If a student is feeling ill during the school day, they should ask permission to visit the medical room, where one of our medical team will see them and decide the best course of action. Under no circumstances should your child make contact with you directly; this will be done by a member of the medical team.
Lateness & Reporting
Good punctuality is important in all walks of life and we expect all students to arrive by 8.40am every morning for either registration or assembly, ready for a prompt start. If a student arrives at school after registration for any reason, then they must report to Reception, explain the reason for the lateness and sign in. Lateness is viewed with the same seriousness as poor attendance and students will receive detentions for frequent lateness.
What should I do when my son/daughter is absent?
Please inform us via the Arbor app (message) for every day of absence, no later than 9.30am. If you do not have internet access, please phone the main reception number, selecting the Absence option, no later than 9am.
